SeatReaper Certified shows that a technician knows how SeatReaper finds, prices and removes the licenses and seats an MSP's clients pay for and do not use. The exam is included in the Starter, Growth and Pro plans, for everyone on the team. The study guide is open to everyone, signed in or not.
It is a product certification only. It is not a security, compliance or vendor certification, and it is not issued by Microsoft or any other vendor SeatReaper connects to.
Study
The certification page has the study guide: seven areas, the number of questions in each, and the help articles that answer them. Every question is answered in those articles, which are in English, like the exam.
| Area | Questions | Read |
|---|---|---|
| The basics | 6 | What SeatReaper does, Security and data |
| Flags and thresholds | 8 | What SeatReaper flags, The price book |
| The queue and offboarding | 7 | Working the queue, Offboarding |
| Prices and renewals | 7 | The price book, Renewals |
| Connections and changes | 7 | Connecting Microsoft 365, Removing licenses, Connecting Pax8, Alerts and tickets |
| Team, security and support | 6 | Inviting your team, Two-step verification, Support access, The audit log |
| Plans, reports and compliance | 4 | Plans and billing, Reports, Compliance evidence reports |
Where to find it
- In the app: sign in and choose Certification in the top bar, between Billing check and Team. The tab shows on Starter, Growth and Pro.
- On the website: seatreaper.com/certification, also linked as SeatReaper Certified in the footer under Product. Take the exam there leads to the same page in the app.
Take the exam
Anyone on a Starter, Growth or Pro workspace can take it: owners, techs and viewers. If your workspace requires two-step verification, verify first.
On the free plan, the exam page explains that certification is part of the paid plans, and an owner can upgrade on Billing. An attempt already started can still be submitted if the plan changes, and certificates already issued stay valid.
- 45 multiple-choice questions, each with one right answer. The questions and the order of their choices are shuffled for each attempt.
- 90 minutes from when you choose Start the exam. If you leave the page, opening it again brings back the same attempt until the time is up.
- Open book. Keep the help articles open in another tab if you like.
- Answer every question and enter your name as it should appear on the certificate, then choose Submit answers. Answers cannot be changed after that.
How it is graded
The exam is graded as soon as you submit, on SeatReaper's server: the right answers are never sent to your browser. 36 right answers (80 percent) passes.
You see your score and your score in each area. The result does not show which questions you missed, so the exam stays fair for everyone; the areas where you dropped points link to the articles to read again.
Only your score and the score per area are kept, never the answers you chose.
If you do not pass
You can try again 24 hours after the attempt started. An attempt that runs out of time before it is submitted is not graded and counts the same way.
Your certificate
A pass issues a certificate with your name, your workspace's name, the date and a code such as SR-1A2B-3C4D-5E6F. Open it with View your certificate on the exam page, then Print or save as PDF, or share its link.
A certificate is valid for 12 months. To renew it, pass the exam again in the last 30 days before it expires, or any time after. The certificate belongs to you, not to the workspace: it stays valid if you leave the team.
Checking a certificate
Anyone can check a certificate, without signing in: enter its code under Check a certificate on the certification page, or open the link on the certificate. The page shows the name, the workspace, the dates and whether it is Valid, Expired or Revoked.
Codes are random, so certificates cannot be guessed or listed, and certificate pages are not shown in search engines. To have a certificate taken down, email SeatReaper support.
