Cove Data Protection is connected once for your whole workspace. SeatReaper reads your backup devices, their customer, and their last session and last successful backup, and matches them to clients by customer name.

1. Create an API user in Cove

In the Cove Management Console, open Management > Users > API Users and choose Add API user. Pick the least privileged role that can view devices. API users can use Cove's API but cannot sign in to the Management Console, which makes them the right kind of login for SeatReaper's daily sync. Keep its password somewhere safe.

2. Connect in SeatReaper

Owners open Settings > Integrations, choose N-able Cove Data Protection under Add an integration, and enter:

  • Partner name: your company name exactly as it appears at the top of the Management Console,
  • API user name and password.

Choose Connect Cove. SeatReaper signs in to test them, saves them encrypted, and runs the first sync.

How devices are matched to clients

Each client's Cove Data Protection customer (under Tool IDs) is compared with each device's customer name, ignoring capitals and extra spaces. A client that matches no devices shows Not found under Data sources; check the spelling against the Customers list in Cove.

What SeatReaper reads

Device name, computer name, workstation or server, active data sources, storage used, and the last session time, status and last successful session across all data sources. It cannot start, stop or change backups.

Syncing and removing

Everything syncs once a day; Sync now on Settings > Integrations syncs immediately. Disconnect deletes the saved credentials and every synced backup device. To revoke access, delete the API user in Cove.

In compliance reports

On Growth and Pro, Cove devices are the backup column of the Device inventory and gaps report in the compliance evidence reports, and Backup status lists each device's last successful backup, oldest first.
