SeatReaper reads every machine with a backup plan in your Acronis customer tenants, with its last successful backup. It never changes machines, plans or backups.

Create an API client

  1. Sign in to the Acronis management portal at the partner level (the level above your customers).
  2. Open Settings > API clients and create an API client.
  3. Copy the client ID, the secret (shown once) and your data center address, such as https://us5-cloud.acronis.com.

SeatReaper only connects to acronis.com addresses. A white-labeled portal address does not work: use your data center's acronis.com address.

Connect

An owner opens Settings > Integrations > Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, pastes the data center address, client ID and secret, and chooses Connect Acronis. SeatReaper signs in to check them, saves them encrypted, and runs the first sync. After that it syncs every day, and Sync now checks at any time.

How machines are linked to clients

  • SeatReaper walks the tenants under the API client's tenant (including folders) to the customer tenants. Each customer is linked to the client with the same name (ignoring capitals, punctuation and endings like Inc or LLC), or to the client an owner or tech picks under Acronis customers. A picked link is kept on every sync.
  • A machine of a customer that is not linked still links to a client when exactly one client has a device with the same name in N-central, Datto RMM or Cove, or in a NinjaOne organization linked to a client.

What SeatReaper does with it

  • Backups that stopped: Acronis is checked like Cove. A machine with no successful backup for the backup threshold (30 days unless you change it) is flagged, but only if every other tool it appears in also considers it dead. A machine only Acronis bills for is titled "No Acronis backup for 30+ days". See What SeatReaper flags.
  • Offboarding: Acronis machines appear in the device list when you offboard someone, and are confirmed once they are gone from Acronis or have no backup plan.
  • Prices: set your monthly cost per protected workload in the price book.

Machines without a backup plan, and machines that have never completed a backup, are not flagged. Storage and other per-gigabyte charges are not read.

Disconnect

An owner chooses Disconnect on the card. SeatReaper deletes the customers and machines it synced. Delete the API client in the management portal to revoke access completely.

In compliance reports

On Growth and Pro, Acronis devices are the backup column of the Device inventory and gaps report in the compliance evidence reports, and Backup status lists each device's last successful backup, oldest first. A machine that has never completed a backup shows as Never.
