Connecting Pax8 lets SeatReaper show what each client is billed for, what it costs you, and when each commitment ends, next to the licenses it finds unused. Syncing only reads from Pax8; SeatReaper never orders or cancels anything. On Growth and up, when an owner has turned on removals, owners and techs can lower a subscription's quantity from the queue; nothing else is ever changed.

Create API credentials

  1. Sign in to the Pax8 app as a Partner Admin or Primary Partner Admin (other roles cannot create API credentials).
  2. Open Integrations, then the Credentials tab, and create new API credentials. Name them "SeatReaper" so you can find them later.
  3. Copy the client ID and client secret. Pax8 shows the secret once.

Connect

An owner opens Settings > Integrations > Pax8, pastes the client ID and secret, and chooses Connect Pax8. SeatReaper signs in to check them, saves them encrypted, and runs the first sync. After that Pax8 syncs every day with your other connections, and Sync now checks at any time.

How Pax8 companies are linked to clients

Each Pax8 company is linked to one of your clients automatically:

  1. By Microsoft subscription ID. When a client's Microsoft 365 is connected, SeatReaper reads the tenant's subscription IDs, and Pax8 lists the same IDs for what it bills. A match is exact.
  2. By name, when there is no ID match: the Pax8 company name and the client name are the same once capitals, punctuation and endings like Inc, LLC or PLLC are ignored. If two clients would match, neither is linked.

Settings > Integrations lists every Pax8 company and the client it is linked to. For one that did not match, owners and techs pick the client there; a picked link is kept on every sync, and Automatic goes back to matching.

Matching by ID needs the client's admin to have approved SeatReaper's Organization.Read.All permission. Clients connected before it was added show Approve again in Microsoft on their page; see Connecting Microsoft 365.

What you get

  • Licenses and billing on each client's page: next to every license, how many Pax8 bills, your cost per license, the billing term, when the term ends, and when Microsoft renews. Pax8 subscriptions that are not Microsoft 365 licenses are listed below it.
  • Unassigned licenses in the queue show what Pax8 bills and when the term ends. That date is usually your first chance to reduce an annual commitment.
  • Price suggestions in the price book: your Pax8 cost per license, with Use this price to copy it. Nothing changes until you choose it. Check whether a cost is monthly before using it for an annual or multi-year term.

Disconnect

An owner chooses Disconnect on the Pax8 card. SeatReaper deletes the Pax8 companies and subscriptions it synced and stops reading. To revoke access completely, delete the "SeatReaper" API credentials in Pax8 as well.
