A client is one of your end customers: one company, usually one Microsoft 365 tenant. Owners and techs can add clients; viewers cannot.
Use the wizard
Go to Clients and select Add client. The wizard asks for one thing at a time:
- Client name. The name your team uses for the customer. Required.
- Microsoft 365 tenant ID. Optional.
- N-central customer ID. Optional.
- Cove Data Protection customer. Optional.
- Review, then Add client.
Only the name is required. Skip any ID you do not have to hand and add it later from the client's page. After the client is added you land on its setup checklist.
Where to find each ID
Microsoft 365 tenant ID
Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center for the client's tenant and go to Entra ID > Overview > Properties. Copy the Tenant ID. It is a GUID in the form 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000, not the onmicrosoft.com domain name. Braces and capital letters are fine; SeatReaper normalizes them.
N-central customer ID
The numeric ID that N-central assigns to the customer. It is the same customer ID that N-central's own API and reports use. Only digits are accepted.
Cove Data Protection customer
Enter the customer's name exactly as it appears under Customers in the Cove Management Console. This is how backup seats are matched to the client. Up to 100 characters.
Rules SeatReaper checks
- Two active clients cannot share a name.
- A tenant ID, N-central customer ID or Cove customer can belong to only one client in your workspace, including archived ones.
- Formats are checked before saving, and again by the database.
Plan limits
Each plan covers a number of active clients (Free 3, Starter 10, Growth 40; Pro includes 100 and bills per client above that). The wizard shows how many slots you have left. When every slot is used, it tells you so instead of adding the client, and owners see a link to compare plans. Archive a client you no longer manage to free its slot.
Change IDs later
Open the client from Clients and edit its IDs under Tool IDs. Clear a field to remove the ID. Every change is recorded in the audit log.
